Vaultwarden at a glance
Checked 15 Oct 2026Vaultwarden (1.37.4, Oct 2026) is an unofficial Bitwarden-compatible server in Rust, AGPL-3.0. You use the official Bitwarden clients against it. It implements the personal vault, Send, attachments, organisations with sharing, groups and policies, emergency access and 2FA login. It is not affiliated with Bitwarden, Inc. and we found no published third-party audit. Runs as a single container, including on Raspberry Pi; the web vault needs HTTPS. No Bitwarden support; you handle backups and TLS yourself.
RepoQuarry. “Vaultwarden.” Checked 15 Oct 2026. https://repoquarry.dev/projects/vaultwardenHow much of 1Password does it replace?
3 of 6 jobs. Self-hosted vault server; autofill and apps come from the official Bitwarden clients. Feature parity not checked.
For two-factor (TOTP) codes, passkey storage, breach and weak-password alerts (Watchtower), see other 1Password alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
