gopass at a glance
Checked 15 Oct 2026gopass (v1.17.4, Oct 2026) is a Go command-line password manager compatible with pass. Secrets are encrypted with GPG (or age) and versioned in git, so a team can share a store by sharing a git repo and adding recipients. Works offline and on Linux, macOS, BSD and Windows. MIT licence. It is a CLI first: browser autofill needs a separate bridge and there is no official mobile app or GUI. Suited to developers, CI/CD and ops teams, not family use.

3 of 6 jobs. CLI vault with git sync and team recipients; browser integration is optional, no mobile app. For technical users.
For two-factor (TOTP) codes, passkey storage, breach and weak-password alerts (Watchtower), see other 1Password alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
