Ente Auth at a glance
Checked 15 Oct 2026Ente Auth is a two-factor code app, not a password manager: it stores TOTP secrets, with optional end-to-end encrypted backup and sync across devices. It works offline and can be used without an account. Apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux; the web view is read-only. AGPL-3.0, in the ente/ente monorepo (stars are shared with Ente Photos), which also contains the self-hostable server. Ente says its code and cryptography were audited by Cure53, Symbolic Software and Fallible. Free; no passwords, autofill or sharing.
RepoQuarry. “Ente Auth.” Checked 15 Oct 2026. https://repoquarry.dev/projects/ente-authHow much of 1Password does it replace?
1 of 6 jobs. Replaces 1Password's built-in 2FA codes as a separate app; does not store passwords.
For password vault with autofill, family and team password sharing, passkey storage, breach and weak-password alerts (Watchtower), see other 1Password alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
