Aegis Authenticator at a glance
Checked 15 Oct 2026Aegis (v3.4.3, Sep 2026) is an Android-only two-factor code app, GPL-3.0. Codes live in a local vault encrypted with AES-256-GCM, unlocked by password or biometrics, with automatic backups to a location you choose. It imports from Google Authenticator, Authy, 2FAS, FreeOTP and others. No cloud sync, no iOS or desktop app, and it does not store passwords. The vault format and security design are documented publicly; we found no third-party audit report.
RepoQuarry. “Aegis Authenticator.” Checked 15 Oct 2026. https://repoquarry.dev/projects/aegisHow much of 1Password does it replace?
1 of 6 jobs. Replaces built-in 2FA codes on Android only; no sync across devices, no passwords.
For password vault with autofill, vault sync across devices, family and team password sharing, passkey storage, breach and weak-password alerts (Watchtower), see other 1Password alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
