Recordly at a glance
Checked 16 Oct 2026Recordly (33.9k stars, v1.4.0 Sep 2026, 72 contributors) started as a fork of OpenScreen. It records a display or window with mic and system audio, adds a webcam bubble, then opens a timeline editor for trims, zooms, speed changes, annotations and styled backgrounds before exporting MP4 or GIF. Runs on macOS 14+, Windows 10 (build 19041+) and Linux. AGPLv3 with extra terms: keep Recordly attribution in derived UIs and do not use the name. It is a demo maker, not a Loom service: no upload, share links, comments, transcripts or analytics.

2 of 6 jobs. Records and edits polished demos locally; you share the exported file yourself.
For instant share links for recordings, timestamped comments and reactions on videos, AI titles, team video library and viewer analytics, see other Loom alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
