# Vaultwarden

> Vaultwarden (1.37.4, Oct 2026) is an unofficial Bitwarden-compatible server in Rust, AGPL-3.0. You use the official Bitwarden clients against it. It implements the personal vault, Send, attachments, organisations with sharing, groups and policies, emergency access and 2FA login. It is not affiliated with Bitwarden, Inc. and we found no published third-party audit. Runs as a single container, including on Raspberry Pi; the web vault needs HTTPS. No Bitwarden support; you handle backups and TLS yourself.

## What it replaces
- 1Password: Password vault with autofill, Vault sync across devices, Family and team password sharing (partial). Self-hosted vault server; autofill and apps come from the official Bitwarden clients. Feature parity not checked.
