Vale at a glance
Checked 15 Oct 2026Vale is a command-line linter for prose (v3.24.0, October 2026), MIT-licensed and written in Go. It ships no opinions of its own: you install style packages such as Microsoft's or Google's guides, or write your own rules for terms, wordiness and passive voice. Runs offline on macOS, Windows and Linux and is aimed at docs teams. Rules are mostly written for English. It is not a full grammar checker and does no AI rewriting, tone changes or plagiarism checks.
