text-to-cad at a glance
Checked 18 Oct 2026text-to-cad is a plugin/skill pack that lets a coding agent write build123d (Open CASCADE) Python code to produce 3D models as STEP, GLB, STL or 3MF, check designs for manufacturing, generate drawings and link to 3D printing, sheet metal and CNC services. It installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI or Grok, so you need one of those. Needs uv, Python 3.11+ and Node.js 20+. On Windows 11, Smart App Control can block it; WSL is suggested. MIT licence. A free tool; it does not replace a paid product we list.
