# Taste Skill

> Taste Skill (v2.1.5, October 2026, about 105k stars) is one agent skill, design-taste-frontend, that steers coding agents away from generic AI-looking websites and app screens. It picks one of 20 researched art directions, pulls credited public domain and Creative Commons pictures from Wikimedia Commons, Openverse and the Met, then checks the page in Chrome at three widths and fixes it for up to three rounds. A build takes 30 to 45 minutes and a few hundred thousand tokens. Needs Node 22+ and a coding agent; no API keys. MIT. Free add-on; it does not replace a paid product.

## What it replaces
Nothing people pay for: a free tool, listed because people search for it.

## Facts, with sources

| Question | Status | Answer | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runs on my machine? | Confirmed | Yes, the skill and its scripts run on your machine inside your coding agent; it only goes online to find pictures | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill#common-questions | 2026-10-29 |
| Code licence | Confirmed | MIT | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill/blob/main/LICENSE | 2026-10-29 |
| Model weights licence | Confirmed | No model weights of its own; it runs on whichever model your coding agent uses | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill#install | 2026-10-29 |
| Commercial use | Confirmed | Yes, MIT allows commercial use; pictures it finds are public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA and keep their credit lines | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill/blob/main/LICENSE | 2026-10-29 |
| Paid services needed? | Partial | The skill itself needs no API keys, but it runs inside an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Codex etc.), usually a paid plan; a build uses a few hundred thousand tokens | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill#how-v2-works | 2026-10-29 |
| Hardware | Partial | No CPU or RAM figures; needs Node 22 or newer and an installed Chrome, Edge or Chromium | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill#common-questions | 2026-10-29 |
| Operating systems | Unknown | Not documented | none found | - |
| Setup effort | Confirmed | Easy, one npx skills command, or the Claude Code or Codex plugin marketplace | https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill#install | 2026-10-29 |

- [ECC](https://repoquarry.dev/projects/ecc.md): Large plugin of agents, skills, hooks, rules and memory for Claude Code, with native Codex and Qoder plugins and partial adapters for other agents.
- [Ponytail](https://repoquarry.dev/projects/ponytail.md): A skill (one prompt) for AI coding agents that makes them reuse what exists and write less code, plus /ponytail-review and /ponytail-audit commands.
- [UI UX Pro Max](https://repoquarry.dev/projects/ui-ux-pro-max.md): Design skill for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other agents that picks UI styles, palettes, fonts and UX rules and generates a design system.
- [Graphify](https://repoquarry.dev/projects/graphify.md): A /graphify skill that maps a codebase and its docs into a knowledge graph your coding agent queries instead of grepping files.
