# SimpleScreenRecorder

> SimpleScreenRecorder (2.9k stars, last commit Aug 2026) is a mature Linux recorder built on FFmpeg/libav and Qt. It records the whole screen, part of it or OpenGL programs directly, with ALSA, PulseAudio or JACK audio, and is packaged by most distributions. GPL-3.0, free. Its build dependencies are X11 libraries; Wayland support is not documented. No camera overlay workflow, editor, upload or share links. Note the project warns that simplescreenrecorder.com is a fake site.
