# ShareX

> ShareX (40k stars, v21.0.0 Jul 2026) is a Windows-only capture tool: screenshots, screen recording and GIFs, an annotation editor and a video trimmer. After capture it can upload to many destinations, including your own S3, Google Cloud Storage or Cloudflare R2 bucket or a custom uploader, and copy the URL to the clipboard, which gives a Loom-like quick link. GPL-3.0, free, no account. It does not host a watch page, comments, transcripts or analytics, and there is no macOS or Linux version.

## What it replaces
- Loom: Screen and camera recording, Instant share links for recordings, Trimming and editing recordings (partial). Records the screen and uploads for a link to storage you configure; no viewer page, comments, AI or analytics. Windows only.
