Scribus at a glance
Checked 16 Oct 2026Scribus is a desktop publishing app (stable 1.6.2, June 2024 per its appdata). The GitHub repo is a community mirror of the official Scribus Subversion repository, updated manually. It is GPL-2.0-or-later and supports RTL, bidi and Indic scripts and OpenType features. Building needs Qt, cairo, poppler and other libraries; we could not check the official download page (scribus.net blocks scripted requests), so install options and hardware are unconfirmed here.

For photo editing (Photoshop), vector design (Illustrator), raw photo editing and library (Lightroom), video editing (Premiere Pro), motion graphics and compositing (After Effects), PDF editing (Acrobat), see other Adobe Creative Cloud alternatives. You may also need to build an interface, an API server and hosting yourself.
