# OpenMausBot

> OpenMausBot (v0.1.135, Oct 2026; ~9.5k stars) is a desktop app where each chat is a bot with its own personality, model and connected apps, an open-source take on Grok Bot. Bots run through the claude, codex or grok command-line tools you already have, and transcripts and keys stay in ~/.openmausbot. They can use a cloud Linux desktop, a local VM or, after opt-in, your own computer. Apache-2.0 apart from the source-available enterprise folder. The app is free; your agent login may need a paid plan, and Boat cloud computers are paid after a trial.

## What it replaces
- Grok Bot: Named bots with memory (partial). Runs a roster of bots on your own machine through command-line agents you already use, any model per bot; app connections and cloud computers need third-party accounts.
  - Use it instead of paying for Grok Bot? Personal use: Partly (Runs locally only in part: The app and its harness run on your machine; the models come through the agent command-li…). Business: Partly (Commercial use with conditions: Apache-2.0 core allows it; enterprise features need a licence key in production, and host…).
