OpenPencil at a glance

Checked 15 Oct 2026

OpenPencil (v0.16.0, 14 Oct 2026; repo started Feb 2026) is a Figma-style UI design editor that opens and saves native .fig files. It has components and variants, flex and grid auto layout, P2P real-time collaboration without a server, JSX/Tailwind export, a CLI and an MCP server. It ships as a ~15 MB Tauri desktop app and a browser PWA. MIT. AI chat and image vectorisation need your own provider keys. The README calls it usable with rough edges. No whiteboard. Hardware needs are not documented beyond OS versions.
