Odysseus at a glance

Checked 18 Oct 2026

Odysseus is an AGPL-3.0 self-hosted web workspace: chat and agents (tools, MCP, files, shell, memory) on local or API models, a Cookbook that recommends, downloads and serves local models, multi-step web research, blind model comparison, a document editor, an IMAP/SMTP email client, and notes, tasks and CalDAV calendar. Install with Docker Compose or natively on Linux, macOS or Windows (Python 3.11+). It is free; you bring local hardware or paid API keys, so answer quality depends on the model you use. The `dev` branch is default and may be unstable.

Hardware Confirmed: App is lightweight; local model serving depends on model, GPU and VRAM (NVIDIA and AMD Docker overlays; CPU-only works) The app itself is lightweight; local model serving is the heavy part and depends on the model, runtime, GPU, and VRAM, so small hosts can connect to API or remote model servers instead. github.com · setup.md ↗ 3d ago

Where these numbers come from
  • Stars, forks, releases: GitHub's public API, fetched every night (last fetch today).
  • Star history: counted every night since 18 Oct 2026.
  • Commits and people committing: GitHub's repository statistics, counted weekly. Names are never stored.
  • Pull requests and issues: counted from GitHub for the last 30 days.
  • Stars show popularity, not quality. The facts below are checked separately, by reading the project's own documentation. How we check.
