# LessPass

> LessPass is not a vault: it recomputes each password from your master password, the site and your login, so nothing needs syncing. GPL-3.0 (mobile app also MPL-2.0). Browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, a pip CLI, and iOS and Android apps. You cannot store existing passwords, notes or TOTP codes, and changing the master password changes every password. The hosted LessPass server for saving site profiles is closed to new users; you must self-host one. We found no third-party audit.

## What it replaces
- 1Password: Password vault with autofill (partial). Generates site passwords on demand; cannot store existing passwords, so it only fits a different workflow.
