# Herdr

> Herdr (v0.9.5, Oct 2026, ~45k stars) runs your coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Grok and more) in panes, tabs and workspaces in the terminal you already use, and marks each one working, blocked or idle. A background server keeps them running when you close the window or lose SSH, and one window can show agents on several machines. Agents can drive it through its CLI and socket API, and plugins extend it. One Rust binary for Linux, macOS and Windows. Apache-2.0. It doesn't replace the agents; each still needs its own plan or keys.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runs on my machine? | Confirmed | Yes; a single binary in your own terminal, with a background server on your machine (or your SSH machines) | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr#readme | 2026-10-22 |
| Code licence | Confirmed | Apache-2.0 | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr/blob/master/LICENSE | 2026-10-22 |

| Commercial use | Confirmed | Yes, Apache-2.0 | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr/blob/master/LICENSE | 2026-10-22 |
| Paid services needed? | Confirmed | None for Herdr itself; each agent you run needs its own plan or API key | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr#readme | 2026-10-22 |
| Hardware | Partial | No RAM or CPU figures documented; one Rust binary with no Electron, plus whatever the agents you run need | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr#readme | 2026-10-22 |
| Operating systems | Confirmed | Linux, macOS (install script or Homebrew) and Windows (PowerShell installer) | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr#install | 2026-10-22 |
| Setup effort | Confirmed | Easy; one install command (curl script, Homebrew, mise or PowerShell), then run herdr | https://github.com/herdrdev/herdr#install | 2026-10-22 |
