# Harvey

> Harvey (v0.3.0, October 2026, about 3k stars) is a Python app that runs a sales loop on your computer every 15 minutes. It finds local businesses (free from OpenStreetMap, or paid search APIs), collects up to 29 signals you approve such as running ads or no online booking, finds contact emails, writes personalised sequences and classifies replies, with a local dashboard. Every email waits for your approval unless you turn on autopilot. Model calls use Claude Code or Codex on your plan. You need your own mailbox and warmup. Meeting booking is still on the roadmap. MIT.

## What it replaces
- Apollo.io: Finding companies and prospects to sell to, Finding and verifying contact emails, Buying signals and lead filters, Automated cold email sequences and replies (partial). Builds its own prospect lists from maps and search data rather than a contact database, so it is strongest on small local businesses; it writes and sends sequences from your own mailbox and drafts replies, but has no dialer or meeting booking yet.
  - Use it instead of paying for Apollo.io? Personal use: Yes. Business: Yes.

## Facts, with sources

| Question | Status | Answer | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runs on my machine? | Confirmed | Yes, a Python app and dashboard on your computer (or Docker on Linux); model calls go through your Claude Code or Codex login | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#readme | 2026-10-29 |
| Code licence | Confirmed | MIT | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey/blob/main/LICENSE | 2026-10-29 |
| Model weights licence | Confirmed | No model weights; uses your Claude Pro or Max plan through Claude Code, or a ChatGPT plan through Codex | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#readme | 2026-10-29 |
| Commercial use | Confirmed | MIT allows commercial use; you are the sender, so cold email must follow CAN-SPAM, GDPR and PECR (Harvey ships compliant defaults such as opt-out lines and a do-not-contact list) | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#legal-and-deliverability | 2026-10-29 |
| Paid services needed? | Partial | Needs a Claude Pro or Max plan (or a ChatGPT plan with Codex) and a sending mailbox, about $7 a month on Google Workspace; a warmup service is recommended. Finding businesses is free from OpenStreetMap, or paid via Serper or DataForSEO. No per-token API bill | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#why-the-subscription-thing-matters | 2026-10-29 |
| Hardware | Partial | No minimum RAM or CPU documented and no GPU; it runs no local model. Needs Python 3.11+ and the Claude or Codex CLI | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#prerequisites | 2026-10-29 |
| Operating systems | Confirmed | Python app for Windows, macOS and Linux with the Claude provider; the Codex provider is macOS and Linux only; Docker Compose for Linux. CI tests Linux and macOS | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#using-a-chatgpt-plan-instead-codex | 2026-10-29 |
| Setup effort | Confirmed | Medium; clone it and ask Claude Code to set it up, or pip install, fill in .env and train it on your website. Sending well also needs a dedicated domain and mailbox warmup | https://github.com/ethanplusai/harvey#quick-start | 2026-10-29 |
