# GnuCash

> GnuCash (4.4k stars on the GitHub mirror, 5.17 Sep 2026) is a long-running desktop accounting app for Windows, macOS and Linux. It keeps double-entry books, reconciles accounts against bank statements, imports OFX and QIF files (and German HBCI online banking), and has small-business features: customers, vendors, jobs, invoices, bill payment and billing terms, plus balance sheet and profit and loss reports. GPL-2.0-or-later. It is single-user desktop software: no web client portal, online card payments or time tracking.

## What it replaces
- QuickBooks Online: Invoices, Expense and receipt tracking, Bank feeds and reconciliation, Bookkeeping (partial). Desktop bookkeeping with invoices and file-based bank import; no online payments, no live bank feeds outside HBCI, no cloud access.
