# bolt.diy

> bolt.diy (v1.0.1, October 2026) is the community, MIT-licensed version of Bolt.new, run with Node.js and pnpm, Docker, or an Electron desktop build. It writes and runs apps in an in-browser WebContainer with editor, terminal and preview, using cloud providers or Ollama and LM Studio. It can connect Supabase, deploy to Netlify, Vercel or GitHub Pages, and build Expo apps. The README says it is now maintenance-only: fixes, no new features. WebContainers has separate commercial terms for enterprise use. The latest release has no desktop binaries attached.

## What it replaces
- Bolt.new: Build a full-stack web app from a chat prompt, Run and preview the app in the browser (WebContainers), Add a database and login (Bolt Database / Supabase), Publish the app to a live URL (Bolt hosting / Netlify), Build a mobile app from a prompt (Expo) (partial). Same core idea as Bolt.new with your own model keys; deploys through your own Netlify, Vercel or GitHub account; maintenance-only.
- Lovable: Build a full-stack web app from a chat prompt, See the running app update as it is built, Add a database, Publish the app to a live URL (Publish) (partial). Prompt-to-app with preview, Supabase and deploys via your own accounts; no click-to-edit visual editor.
