Local proxy and plugin that compresses a coding agent's conversation history so long sessions fit in a small context window.

billion-context at a glance
Checked 18 Oct 2026billion-context (command `bili`) is a Node CLI that sits between a coding agent and its model API, folding older messages into summaries the model can expand again. It supports Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, pi, Gemini CLI, Aider and many more, via native plugins, a launcher, or for some clients a local HTTPS interception proxy with its own certificate. You still need an agent and a model API. The README calls it early with rough edges. Licence is MIT plus an extra clause requiring visible attribution in products that use it. It does not replace a paid product.

Where these numbers come from
- Stars, forks, releases: GitHub's public API, fetched every night (last fetch today).
- Star history: counted every night since 18 Oct 2026; the dashed part before that is estimated from the dates people starred the repo.
- Commits and people committing: GitHub's repository statistics, counted weekly. Names are never stored.
- Pull requests and issues: counted from GitHub for the last 30 days.
- Stars show popularity, not quality. The facts below are checked separately, by reading the project's own documentation. How we check.
